We are looking for a Yard Manager who can take ownership of our site’s outdoor operations — from managing goods in/out and coordinating yard staff, to overseeing waste management, environmental compliance, and site maintenance.
This is a high-impact role at the core of our business.
Your main duties and responsibilities are:
Goods In & Out
- Lead all goods in/out processes, ensuring accuracy, speed, and traceability
- Maintain organised raw materials storage and flow to production
- Manage returns, damaged goods, and rejected materials
- Ensure complete and correct delivery documentation
Team Management & Briefings
- Deliver the daily 6:30am team briefing and allocate priorities
- Supervise and support yard staff, maintaining high standards in safety, discipline, and performance
- Identify training needs and provide on-the-job support
Site Services & Equipment
- Oversee waste handling, water treatment, and utilities monitoring
- Ensure all operations comply with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards
- Coordinate forklift and equipment servicing, working with the Engineering team
Site Maintenance & Grounds
- Ensure all site areas — from roads to buildings — are clean, safe, and professionally presented
- Manage groundskeeping tasks (e.g. weed control, grass cutting)
- Maintain signage, road markings, and safe traffic flow on site
Person Specification:
Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven experience managing yard or site services teams
- Background in food manufacturing, agriculture, or logistics
- Strong leadership, communication, and team coordination skills
- Solid understanding of health & safety, environmental, and compliance regulations
- Skilled in delivery documentation and materials handling
- Comfortable working outdoors year-round
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Experience & Skills
- Forklift operation and basic maintenance
- Experience with water treatment or site utilities
- Familiarity with audit processes
- Experience with vegetable handling or onion supply
