What we are looking for

A dedicated and motivated person to operate as a Hygiene operative whilst assisting in the daily supervision of the night hygiene team. Ensuring that the most stringent levels of production and food hygiene are maintained onsite for food production equipment and the overall environment. .

The position

  • Deputise for the Hygiene Supervisor when necessary by managing the team to deliver efficient & effective hygiene of the environment and ensure cleaning procedures are conducted to the prescribed frequency and methodology.
  • Carrying our scheduled cleaning tasks, using cleaning equipment, chemicals, and sanitisers
  • Ensure staff are adequately trained and competent in both cleaning and health and safety methodologies
  • To also ensure all orders are loaded for dispatch whilst adhering to timescales and company policies, rules and procedures
  • Support the Hygiene Supervisor to drive, implement change and improve hygiene efficiency and effectiveness within the team, factory environment and share good practice with the opposite shift
  • Ensure hygiene activities are regularly reviewed.
  • Accountability for staff training, development and safety within the department
  • Ensure you work safely, following specific cleaning instructions regarding Health & Safety and Food Safety requirements for individual tasks
  • Ensure the hygiene plan is adhered to and attained.  Highlight any areas of concern regarding adherence to the Supervisor
  • Deep clean of production areas, handling and dilution of cleaning chemicals
  • Dismantling and assembly of factory machinery to ensure an effective hygiene clean has taken place
  • Report any engineering issues that need attention as part of machinery strip downs or any issues with hygiene machinery.

Person specification

  • Experience in food industry hygiene operations
  • Experience of leading a team and monitoring performance against standards
  • COSHH trained desirable but training can be given
  • Able to work to time pressures
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Able to follow instructions, written and verbal
  • A ‘can do attitude’ and attention to detail
