We are looking for

A mechanical Engineer to perform reactive and preventative maintenance to ensure machinery operates at peak efficiency without compromising quality. Collaborate closely with site Technicians and Line Leaders to keep all equipment fully operational and ensure that equipment, and machinery are maintained in accordance with company standards.

The position

  • Work closely with the Engineering Supervisors, Engineering Manager, Grader Operations Supervisor, Line Leaders, machinery suppliers and manufacturers to ensure maximum efficiency is achieved
  • Work closely with the Engineering Supervisors to minimise equipment and tool purchases while ensuring all necessary tasks are effectively completed
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance across the site to minimise downtime
  • Ensure effective and timely resolution of breakdowns and issues, with minimal impact on production.
  • Suggest solutions aligned with the engineering strategy to minimise downtime
  • Identify areas for improvement in machine performance
  • Ensure that maintenance, servicing and general duties are carried out, escalating issues to the Engineering Supervisors
  • Supervise external contractors working onsite, ensuring policy and procedural requirements are communicated and adhered to at all times
  • Competently and accurately complete the production paperwork documentation to ensure compliant and audit ready at all times.
  • Ensure all areas are clean and tidy at the end of shift
  • Ensure detailed records are kept of all engineering tasks to deliver audit compliance

Person specification

  • Experienced mechanical engineer
  • Team player
  • Problem solving skills to identify the root cause of an issue and ability to resolve
  • Proven organisational skills
  • Confident working on their own and as part of a team
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels.
  • Industry knowledge: experience working in food manufacture industry would be beneficial
  • Self-driven, self-motivated and enthusiastic
  • Flexible working approach and ability to adapt to change
