With the Beast from the East and the hottest, driest summer on record, this season's British Onions supplies have finally dried up.

We would like to wish all of our growers, suppliers and customers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It's been an interesting one to say the least with many changes to our business, some for the good, and some not. We're ready for whatever challenges lay ahead in 2016.

Bulb onions are the world’s second biggest vegetable crop with an annual production of 100M tonnes. It is also one of the UK’s most important crops with around 500K tonnes produced in 2022, with a value of £160M. However, fusarium Basal Rot (FBR) poses a significant threat to the UK onion industry, causing devastating losses both pre- and post-harvest. Losses are driving onion growers out of business and, with climate change exacerbating the issue, innovative solutions are urgently needed.

Through carbon offsetting with our gas supplier Flogas, we have offset the equivalent of 863 tonnes of carbon. That's the equivalent of flying 2339 miles of making 7838 cups of tea.

After 22 years’ service, War Veteran Eddie Peak has this week retired from Moulton Bulb Co. Ltd at the grand age of 95
