Sweet, Mild, Crunchy and Juicy...... .....Just some of the words used to describe the unique Supasweet Onion. Developed in the UK, the Supasweet Onion follows in the footsteps of the hugely successful Vidalia and Walla Walla onions over in America, with one distinct difference. Onions described as Supasweet are guaranteed to be sweet. The pyruvate scate, measures the pungency of onions, and only those which come below 5 on the scale get to be labeled as supasweet. Other sweet onions are available but the supasweet is guaranteed to be consistently sweet. Our Supasweet Onions are grown by two dedicated growers in Bedfordhisre and Cambridgshire. Harvested in July, the Supasweet onions which we sell are harvested towards the end of June and are on supermarket shelves at the begining of July until October. Currently they are stocked in Asda, Co-op and Waitrose. The main benefit of eating Supasweet onions, is that you can happily add it to your salads or sandwiches and get that great onion taste without the overpowering strength you can sometimes encounter. They also have less affect on your breath and are a lot less likely to make you cry when you chop them. And because of all of this, they are fantastic to get your children in to eating onions, as they really are one of the healthiest vegetables, especially when eaten raw. |
