In 1999, by means of a sizeable donation, Oldershaws of Moulton Ltd helped to launch the appeal to restore and replace the sails on Moulton windmill, the tallest mill in the UK. Moulton Mill is 100ft to the cap and was built in 1822. The sails were removed in 1895 after being damaged in a storm and now, the villagers and team behind the restoration are hoping to have the sails back on before the end of 2011. Oldershaws of Moutlon continue to support the resotration by holding annual Tractor rallies by way of raising funds.
Over the years, The Oldershaw Group has undertaken a series of days for local school children to educate them about the countryside they live in and the farming which happens right on their doorstep. Each year around 800 children from primary schools in the local area have visited our farm at Weston and experienced horticultural and arable crops being grown, satellite guided tractor rides, the hunt, falconry displays, sheep sheering and much much more. Some of our customers have also helped out by bringing their own demonstration units and giving demonstrations of where our food comes from. We hope to hold more of these events in coming years.
