Moulton Bulb was originally created to sell tulip and daffodil bulbs grown by the Oldershaw brothers. In 1979, however, the company began packing onions for the supermarket trade. It has now grown into one of the largest onion packers in the UK. With a diverse customer base and an innovative approach to onion packing, Moulton Bulb is able to meet, with ease, the demands of all its customers.

The company prides itself on having the widest product range out of all the UK packers. Standard brown and red onion lines as well as traditional garlic and shallots are complemented by niche products such as white onions, Supasweet onions, fresh green garlic, pickling onions and echalion shallots. Moulton Bulb is also able to supply organic onions, shallots and garlic.. All of these lines are backed up by the highest technical standards that ensure full traceability and product safety from field to fork.

Moulton Bulb always endeavours to develop new and exciting lines for its customers. Through F B Parrish and Son - a former Grower of the Year- Moulton Bulb is able to supply its customers with Supasweet onions. Moulton Bulb have pioneered the lost art of traditional shallot stringing. Ideal for hanging in your kitchen to eat later or just to be decorative for that rustic old English look, the UK grown shallots are strung together at our site in Moulton.

In order to pack and deliver top quality produce to its customers, Moulton Bulb pursues a policy of continual modernisation and innovation. State of the art touch screen PC’s are now in use in the packhouse and warehouse by the Quality Assurance team in order to maintain detailed checks on all products. Furthermore, Moulton Bulb has recently moved into a brand new, up to date packhouse. High capacity automated lines coupled with robotic tray stacking means enhanced production efficiency. Moulton Bulb also has 8,000 tonnes of cold storage and 2,300 tonnes of controlled atmosphere storage, which enables the company to pack UK grown onions for almost twelve months of the year without compromising quality.

Moulton Bulb readily acknowledges the importance of its grower base. Forty farmers, growing in excess of 800 hectares of onions, are spread across the fertile soils of Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk. This distribution over the best onion growing land in the country gives the company enormous flexibility in terms of harvest dates and varieties. Moulton Bulb has also developed growers in areas which are not conventionally thought of as onion growing areas in order to service the need for local and regional produce.
