OldershawGroup

The late Gilbert Oldershaw MBE and his brother Henry started farming on our site in Moulton in 1948. Flower bulbs were the predominant crop and it wasn't until 1967 when they grew their first crop of onions.

In 1979, we were approached and asked to pack onions for our first supermarket customer. Since then, we have at some point packed for nearly all of the major UK supermarkets and today we hold accounts with Asda, The Co-operative, Iceland, Waitrose and Ocado. This means we supply around 25% of the onions you see on British supermarket shelves.

Gilbert was a very innovative character and led the way for others to follow in his chosen field. From revolutionising the forcing of flower bulbs with the use of peat instead of soil, to commericalising the now standard practise of harvesting and drying onions, Moulton Bulb Co. Ltd has always lead the industry.
